Did you know wild rice is actually a seed from an aquatic grass, rather than a true member of the rice family? When purchasing wild rice, select large kernels with a rich, dark brown color and a pleasant odor. It shouldn’t smell swampy or musty. When cooked, wild rice should have a deep nutty flavor.
